We celebrate Friday nights around here and that often involves an easily put together dinner and a favorite libation of one form or another. The other pre-requisite last night was that dinner needed to be something that generated as few dishes as possible because I for one am super sick of doing the darn things in the bathroom. It absolutely amazes me how much I've taken running water and a kitchen sink for granted. Thankfully cooking's about to get easier because the granite will be installed on Monday and the plumber's coming Tuesday to hook everything up. Praise be!
Meanwhile, Big Guy and yours truly wouldn't do much complaining if we needed to do a repeat showing of the burgers we had last night. Thank the Neely's and foodnetwork.com for the idea although as per normal I deviated somewhat from their original.
I mixed up some lean ground beef with a minced shallot, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper and flattened them to a shape resembling the panini buns I had left hiding in the freezer. Accompanied by the Neely's Secret Sauce made from sour cream, mayo, buttermilk, BBQ sauce, lemon juice and cayenne, the burgers needed nothing else other than cheese (cheddar for Big Guy and gorgonzola for me), and some of our own homemade bacon cooked extra crisp.
With the rest of beans from Tuesday night, some pepperocino for Big Guy and dills for me, dinner was on the table in record time.
Hit the link for the recipe because I'm being lazy, never mind that I didn't change it enough to call it my own. You'll notice I didn't bother making the slaw, mostly because I didn't have any hiding in the refrigerator but honestly, I can't think the burger would be much better with it. Also, if you're really brilliant you should make extra of that fabulous sauce. It would be amazing as a dip with some buffalo wings, or on a roast beef sandwich, or on another burger or three.
My mouth is watering - nothing like a delish burger!!!! I love the blue cheese you put on yours!!!!! That would have been my choice! I love how you made them in the shape of your buns!!!!!

For a second there all I saw was the homemade bacon, then it penetrated that there was a burger underneath…he he. I'm not a big fan of the Neely's (too much PDA for me), but they do make some good food.

I don't watch the Neely's either for the same reason, but they do make some great grub. The sauce is amazing and it's the first time I've put shallots into a burger. Great addition!
