Last night's recipe is courtesy of Giada De Laurentiiis and Food Network and while I have to say I'm normally pleased with the results from one of her specialties, we weren't so impressed this time around.
Loaded with spicy hot Italian sausage, sun dried tomatoes and artichokes, I took the liberty of adding more garlic, sauteed onions, and red pepper flakes to the mix as well. Dressed in a wine and chicken broth sauce it was a lower calorie version compared to most pasta's we have in this household and should have been wonderful. I suppose I've only myself to blame for the lack of flavor since I didn't have any fresh basil and that darn basil must have been the key because even though I used the dried version, we found the pasta just plain boring. In fact the big guy mentioned he liked it better when he rid his bowl of the artichokes and he loves the things ...the fresh variety of course.
I won't be making this recipe again but I'm stubborn enough not to give up on the combination although next time I'll add roasted red peppers instead of artichokes and see what happens. Hit the link to go to the source and see what you think.
