Is there anything better than the smell of chicken in the oven? These honey baked drums had us both salivating a good half hour before they were ready, never mind that I thought the rice would never cook and that takes exactly 15 minutes. Famished were we? Maybe just a little.
If you're not hungry you certainly will be by the time these beauties are ready. From Diana Rattray at About.com, they're very simple to prepare...mmm honey, brown sugar, lemon juice and soy sauce. What could be easier or more delicious?
Just a note from the wise. It'll take you longer to clean the baking pan when they're done that it does to get them ready, so don't be a dumbskull like I was. For heavens sake line the pan with foil first! Course it didn't bother me because the big guy cleaned up last night but he did have to use the baking soda soaking method to get rid of the burnt honey. They're worth every single minute he had to scrub ...yup, easy for me to say! Download Honey Baked CHicken Drumsticks
Honey Baked Chicken Drumsticks (from about.com)
2 pound chicken drumsticks, washed and dried
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup flour
2 teaspoons Creole seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/3 cup liquid honey
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon soy sauce
Preheat oven to 350. Melt butter and vegetable oil together and place on bottom of baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Combine flour, Creole seasoning and garlic powder in a zip bag. Toss drumsticks to coat and place evenly on baking sheet. Turn to coat with butter mixture. Bake for 30 minutes. Meanwhile in a microwave safe bowl, combine honey, brown sugar, lemon juice and soy sauce and heat in microwave until bubbling – about 40 seconds. Stir well to combine. Pour over chicken pieces and continue to bake for 30 to 40 minutes, turning chicken pieces every 15 minutes. Serves 4.
Yum - love me some chicken legs!!!!! Those look tasty - and with plain white rice - nothing better in my opinion!

Yup, pure unadulterated basmati...after the picture it was loaded with sriracha and hoisin. We're incorrigible.
