When I moved to the U.S.A. to marry the big guy, I didn't know nuthin' from nuthin' about barbecue. To me, BBQ simply meant turning on the jets of the propane monster and cooking up a steak in record time. Obviously it meant a totally different thing to the big guy.
He's a barbecue aficionado, well versed in the fine art of smokin', cookin', grillin' and "rotisserieing". In fact he has no less than 4 different cooking vessels available to him in his outdoor kitchen, which I might add in surface area is about double the size of the kitchen in the house.
He used the double barrel smoker yesterday to produce this fabulous brisket and it was all I could do to wrestle a couple of pieces out of him for our dinner last night. Cooked low and slow all day, as you can see the end result has a fabulous outside bark, a perfect smoke ring and was moist and tender inside. Served with his homemade special recipe barbecue sauce, it was a very welcome treat after all the turkey we've been enjoying. Unfortunately the remainder hit the freezer to be used in a mystery dish I'll tell you about later. You see the next little while I'll be prepping for a staff/student/faculty party to celebrate the end of the semester and gasp...the party's exactly two weeks from today.
Oh - about the rest of the big guy's honey do list - well it's growing as we speak, but he's a rare thing among men, I'm thinking. Not only did he cook this perfectly beautiful brisket yesterday, but he also put up outside Christmas lights - in a wind storm no less and without one single solitary word of complaint. Is he well trained or what?
No complaining as long as my outside kitchens get to be bigger than your inside kitchen. LU

That is an impressive smoke ring! Could he give some lessons to my big guy?!

Sure Pam - your place or ours? How's the huntin' over there?

I'm envious of your big guy's outdoor kitchen and of his grilling abilities. I'm sending Dave for lessons. It has to be done!

Mags - maybe we need to have a blogger & SO (significant other) retreat here in Tucson for some, barbecuing, grillin' & chillin'. Going down to 25 tonight. Yikes!

Ha - another neighbor complained about the stink. I guess it just proves that one man's coal is another's diamonds.
