Last night's dinner made up for all the bad stuff that's ever come our way from the kitchen or otherwise. If there can be a "perfect storm" in the culinary world, this Orange Chicken is pure perfection. Deep fried chicken bites, spicy sweet sauce absolutely bursting with orange flavor and a hint of cayenne, served on a bed of fluffy rice with some crunchy stir fried veggies - why it's pure unadulterated decadence.
We have Annie's Eats to thank for it and I for one will never order Orange Chicken for take out ever, ever again. In fact, I can't wait to try this sauce on some beef strips spiced up with red pepper flakes, or with crispy skinned duck, or cubes of pork ...or imagine substituting lemon instead of orange, as in Meyer lemons! Oh good heaven's we can kiss goodbye to the hello yellow limoncello!
Please mosey on over to Annie's at the link above and print off the recipe. I dare not reproduce it, because quite honestly I made it exactly as Annie specified and changed not one thing.
Now I've half a mind to jump in the car and drive to the big guy's office. You see, I was a martyr and packed ALL the left overs in his lunch this morning and now as I recall how absolutely delicious this chicken is I'm thinking if I leave now, I can steal the big guy's lunch while he's out of the office teaching class. Brilliant idea, don't ya think?
And my guess is that Betty would let you in my office to make off with the goods.

It sure helps to have friends in high places but for the sake of a peaceful weekend, I'll forgo the urge. I'll put it on the menu again PDQ!

You got it I would most definitely let J Bug in the Big Guy's Office and oh could we have some fun!!
This is another great recipe!! I made it for dinner for Don and I last night and have left overs for all three of us today. I liked the orange flavor but I have to admit that I did not put the peel in the sauce just the zest and juice. This will be on the menu again real soon.

Betty - Thanks for trying this one. It is good isn't it and honestly, next time add the rind. It really adds a major flavor burst when you get a piece of it along with the chicken. Just remember to take the rind only but leave the white pith or it will be too bitter.

I will try it. Maybe the last I did get some of the white pitch and that was why it was strong (another recipe of yours). They definitely want me to make this one again.
