What gets your mouth watering more than the smell of fresh biscuits in the oven? How about biscuits and gravy; or a warm, flaky light biscuit slathered in butter and dripping with homemade strawberry jam; how about one with peanut butter and honey; or are you a savory kind of biscuit lover and prefer yours with sausage and egg for breakfast? Anyway you cut 'em, these Angel Biscuits are about the best you'll ever make.
A cross between a regular flaky biscuit and a yeast roll, these buttermilk biscuits have yeast in them as well as baking powder and soda and can even be shaped and frozen before baking, so you can haul a couple out of the freezer and bake 'em right when you need them. I haven't tried that, so I can't say one hundred percent how it works, but I figure the Pillsbury dough boy isn't going to be seen around these parts for a long time if ever again! Not only can you freeze them uncooked, but the dough lasts up to a week in the refrigerator, and the kicker is they also "age" well unlike regular baking powder biscuits that end up like hockey pucks as leftovers. I'd say Angel Biscuits are darn near heaven sent, wouldn't you? Download Angel Biscuits
Quite honestly, I've never had a lighter more delicate biscuit in my life - it's no wonder they're called Angel Biscuits. They're just as light as air, but really substantial too. Moist, tender and flaky, it's doubtful I'll ever go back to making my old version. Well maybe if I'm going to make some Diddle Diddle Dumplings but only then and only under duress!
By the way, I apologize for the late post today, but my computer monitor decided to go South so now I'm looking at you through a nice wide screen LCD monitor. This one had better last longer than the last one did...that's all I'm gonna' say about that!
Angel biscuits are the ONLY biscuits I've ever had any success with. There's just not enough southern girl in me to make them any other way. And, for the record, they do freeze well unbaked.
Congrats on the new monitor! Do I look more gorgeous than ever now?

I should have known you'd be making these since you're the yeast queen of the planet! And yes, you look ravishing!

Kathleen - they are really great. Wish it hadn't taken me so long to give them a try

They are gorgeous!!! I must try them when I get my new KitchenAid - my yellow one died on me the other day - didn't think that was possible... I am doing a search for the perfect one... just like the perfect Chevy Traverse... patience...patience...
I am so glad for you for your new monitor!!!!!!!! You so deserve it - just like I deserve that one hour massage I will get at 1 this afternoon!!! You need to schedule you one, too!!!!

Lea - absolutely super biscuits. They'd be easy enough to make without a Kitchen Aid since they don't require any kneading....good luck on your search for a new Kitchen Aid. Don't know what I'd do without mine.
As for the monitor - certainly didn't need the expense right now, but it is a beauty. There's some things you just can't do without! Enjoy your massage - I agree
