The big guy and I were both happy with last night's dinner. I say his tuna was too rare and he'd say mine was overcooked, but regardless of each other's preferences, we were both equally satisfied with the outcome. The picture you're looking at is his serving.
Another stellar recipe from Cooking Light, this gorgeous Ahi tuna was coated in a thin layer of sesame oil, a little soy and sesame seeds, then cooked on a very hot grill pan. Accompanied by spicy slaw flavored with Sriracha, fish sauce, rice vinegar, fresh ginger and a touch of sugar, dinner was light but extremely flavorful. In fact, the big guy's still raving over the slaw - yup it was spicy enough to grab his attention. The whole thing was also low enough in the calorie department (247), that we were each able to enjoy a little libation - a grapefruit margarita for me and some bourbon on the rocks for the man of the house.
By the way, if you're thinking this is a pretty darn short post today, keep on lookin' because I caught you all up on what we had during the three nights the computer was out of order. So grab a coffee, hunker down and prepare to salivate!
Perfection!!!!

I like this. I haven't done enough experimenting with tuna. Thanks for the ideas.

Noble Pig - I think the trick is a really super hot grill pan and a brief cooking period, and of course high quality tuna. Course saying all of that, I don't like mine quite as rare as the big guy does.
Sarah - it's great in a fish taco too

I'm afraid I'm another one of those who doesn't like "pink" tuna. I prefer mine round (out of the can...LOL)
Your slaw sounds delicious though!

Mags - come to think of it this slaw would be great with a chunk of canned tuna on top too - perfect for lunch.
