Like magic, they rise while you're sleeping and greet you in the morning with the aroma of fresh baked cinnamon buns. They taste like you fussed but you know you didn't. Now have I got your attention?
OK, so some munchkin has to put them in the oven, but you get the idea. These overnight sweet rolls are really easy to make, in fact they take less than 5 minutes to put together, but you'd never tell from the taste of them so when you try them really play it up that you fussed and kneaded for hours. I guarantee everyone will believe you.
Simply coat the inside of a 9 x 13 pan in cooking spray, then sprinkle one cup of brown sugar on the bottom, followed by 3 Tablespoons of melted butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Nuts are optional. Place between 12 and 20 frozen dinner rolls on top and pour 1/2 pint of whipping cream over them. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise at room temperature overnight. In the morning, preheat oven to 350 and bake sticky buns for 35 minutes until done. Let cool for 15 minutes before turning pan upside down on a serving tray. If you remove the buns from the pan too soon, they'll collapse like pancakes.
We enjoyed them for breakfast yesterday when our friends arrived just after 10:00 am. We had a great day talking over old times, eating fish tacos and fried oysters for lunch, walking on the beach in Yachats, and laughing and catching up over a dinner of pork tenderloin and corn on the cob. (Sorry, we forgot to take pics but believe me, the big guy made more magic on the barbecue.)
GMan and I have less than a week left in our little cabin, so we're going to pretend it's ours today and do some weeding, wash windows and perk our little abode up a bit. It's likely a walk on the beach is in order too. The weather has been glorious and me thinks we're in for another perfect day. That is if I can get my guy and his dawg off the couch. Talk about the sweet life!
