A beautiful day in the neighborhood. Max and I were heading out for a great walk this morning until a huge black mastiff blew by us. Talk about make the heart flutter. I don't think I've recovered from the last run in with a mastiff...mmm think I'll try a wrist rocket. Big sticks just don't cut it anymore and its obvious for survival reasons on the morning walk, I need to get into fighting shape.
As you've notice, we haven't exactly eaten diet this week, (or last, or the week before...or) so I thought tonight would be a great night for a big salad. Plus it's hotter than Hades ...hell truly is right here on earth. Looking at this picture though you'll see that I didn't exactly cheat us out of eating the good stuff.
This is one of my signature salads - unfortunately there's no recipe to give you other than to tell you it's chock full of assorted greens, cave aged blue cheese from you know where and some good bacon, a little sweet onion and some tomatoes. You know the best part about having salad for dinner is that it means you can have dessert after it. We didn't, but we could have. After all, we spent the weekend making desserts for Saturday's party. What can I say...they're calling to us from the freezer; however, we'll be strong and resist - at least today.
Oh, by the way, for those of you that have asked what is a Whoopie Pie - well, it's a cake style cookie sandwich with a fluffy, creamy filling in between. The good whoopies are at least 3 inches in diameter, the better ones are bigger! They're all the rage right now in blogsville. Check out http://www.sassandveracity.com for KellyP's April 17 posting and read about her version. They look amazing. You can make 'em in all different flavors. I'm not showing you mine because I don't want to ruin the surprise - I think there's a few of GMan's students that read my blog, but I'll post pics and recipes one of these days - after the event of course.
