I don't know if you've noticed but we're crazy about the flavor of cabbage rolls around here so this is last night's version.
Adapted from Taste of Home, I took the liberty of making a few changes by adding onion and more spices to the mix, particularly after reading some of the reviews that indicated the recipe was on the bland side. Well, let me tell you, there's nothing bland about this one; however, since we're all about honesty here, in my opinion this recipes needs a little work. In addition to the onion, extra spices including oregano, red chile flakes, a lot more garlic, black pepper, salt and beef stock instead of water, should I decide to make it again I'll change the timing a tad. You see by the time the cabbage was appropriately cooked (not soft but just a little firm to the bite) the rice was way over done so I'd be inclined to cook the rice separately and add it at the end or give the cabbage a head start before adding the rice to the pot.
Anyway, next time you're in the mood for some good old fashioned cabbage comfort food, check out one of these first. I won't be posting last night's version until it gets a re-run but if you're so inclined, hit the link and check out Taste of Home's recipe and tell me what you think.
