Good morning world. Tucson here. It's another frigid day in the desert let me tell you. We've got a cool cat, a shivering schnauzer and everyone is wrapped in fleece. Quite the way to start a day.
We seem to be developing a bit of a pattern here. The big guy was out last night, second Thursday in a row -but hey, who's counting? I don't mind cooking up dinner for just two of us - Maxie and me. We both ate stuff that looked about the same - him with his dry no corn, no wheat kibble and me with some leftovers from last night along with pumpkin flavored granola courtesy of the bulk department at Sprouts. I know you'll all find this hard to believe but I'm all about taking advantage of a night off from the kitchen every now and then.
Yesterday was not an entirely cookin' free day though. I did manage to do a little baking. After all I did have to get some crumbs into the bottom of my very clean oven, because an immaculate oven indicates there's nobody working in this house and that'll never do for long. This week's muffin of the week is Blueberry Bran and they're loaded with healthy choices like oat bran and flax - antioxidant toting blueberries and even some applesauce and cinnamon. I kid you not, they have not one spec of fat in them - that's right, no fat. They are full of flavor, incredibly moist and beautifully sweet. I even dusted the tops with cinnamon sugar for a little extra zip, plus I like the way it clings to the big guy's mustache.
